heaven

…he had been waiting for awhile, and was quite tired of being suspended on his life…
This point of view was definitely too detached to be accepted, if loved was too much.
Now it finally seemed to be over…almost at least.
His head was not so present anymore. Nowadays he floated into memories more and more often, and his memories seemed to become more and more confused, mixed up, faded to blue…
He reckoned he spent more than a few minutes into bringing back an event, the sweet emotion caused by that blue-eyed girl’s skirt lifting in the wind to show her socks….wasn’t she dead during the big war? He remembered she was taken by the German Army and taken into one of those camps where souls died before bodies.
She probably was separated from her family as soon as the train stopped where Arbeit machte frei.
He became a priest in his twenties, but he never forgot that blue eyed girl, and when temptations were so heavy he couldn’t bear them he always reached for the blue eyed girl to be saved…pretty strange he reached for a lay concept to escape from mortal temptations….no Madonnas or Jesus on the cross to save his soul, but a blue-eyed girl’s white socks…
’aint’ it wonderful? ‘ he said with a grin widening on his face.
Now life was sweetly running from his fingers, he could really understand what the most important things were..the blue eyed girl’s socks were significant….the camp she died into was not.
Now life was swiftly fading to black he felt comfortable and cosy.
The world was a great place to live in, but a wonderful place to leave from as well.
He closed his eyes and dived back on a sunny street, with no pavement and a lot of dust risen by the cows passing by, leading to the lawns.
He smelt the acid fragrance of freshly milked milk, he felt the warmth of the sun on his shoulder, while his shadow landed at his feet…the he suddenly heard a girlish voice coming from the end of the path, just behind the hill….he started seeing her white socks behind his eyelids and thought that Heaven wasn’t very different from what he had expected.
